Karen is in California looking at houses (so far no luck) and I had the weekend all to myself. Which should have meant a lot of exercise, catching up on reading and editing, and basic productivity. Instead, I've played Civilization. I can't seem to help myself--I say I'll just do it for an hour or so--and all of a sudden it's four in the morning.
I have gotten some reading done--which you wouldn't know from the reviews I've posted (not). I finally read THE SHADOW OF SAGANAMI by David Weber which has been on my to-be-read stack for a couple of years. I enjoyed it--mostly. It showed a degree of moral complexity I enjoyed and was a bit surprised to see in a Baen book. However, Weber's style of having people engage in conversations for the purpose of enlightening the reader drives me nuts. I also enjoyed Joshua Calkins-Treworgy's FORWARD SHAMBLE! the sequel to MOTOR CITY SHAMBLER. I plan to post reviews tomorrow. Now I'm reading a J.A. Jance mystery.
I got a friend request on Facebook and all of a sudden, I have a Facebook account. Do a search for Rob Preece (and what the heck, invite me to be a friend). I can't figure out how to do a URL other than www.facebook.com and then search but maybe there's a way.
I'm going to make A TEXAS BOUNTY by Cathy Richard Dodson the www.BooksForABuck.com book of the day. When his pet wallaby goes missing, Noah Francis's uncle puts out a million dollar reward--and Noah has to head back to small-town Texas to straighten things up. One thing that desperately needs straightening is the girl he left behind--and the secret she's kept all these years. Funny and romantic--only $3.99.
