It's nearly the end of January and I'm still someplace in the middle of 2008. I finally wrote a romance review (sort of a romance anyway--for ZANE'S SEX CHRONICLES) so I've reviewed books from each of my major genres this year. Which means it's time to update all the review files with the new dates and locations (our newest reviews are no longer those written in 200
. I'd hoped to get this done today. In fact, there's a long list of things I'd hoped to get done today. I worked hard all day and didn't get many of them done. What I did do was update all of the PDB files for the eBooks we published in 2008--including re-doing the ones I'd done earlier. (I also updated some of the PayPal code which will mean faster loading pages--I've got a lot more of this to do).
The eBook Studio (eReader) allows you to create covers which will show up in the reader's desktop database. Unfortunately, the documentation doesn't explain how to take advantage of this feature. This seems like a really obvious problem to me. I queried service and the process is simple. You simply put a picture at the start and name it cover.png (fortunately, Photoshop creates PNG files). That's it--I wonder how many support calls they've gotten simply because they forgot to put this feature in their documentation? I also wonder how many eBooks have been published without covers because nobody knew this was possible.
I posted reviews for ZANE'S SEX CHRONICLES (okay but not quite there for me: http://www.booksforabuck.com/rompages/rom_2009/zane_sex_chronicles.html and for China Mieville's UN LUN DUN (which was excellent--review is here: http://www.booksforabuck.com/sfpages/sf_09/un_lun_dun.html. Now I'm reading Brandon Sanderson's MISTBORN. I read his ELANTRIS recently and so far, MISTBORN is far superior.
Karen and I walked to the library--Dallas's weather has taken another turn for the warmer. It's 70 degrees (F) and I'm sweating as I type.
I got a bit of rewriting done but if I'm going to finish my rewrite this month, I've got to get a move on--big time.
I'm going to make SPRING RAIN IN THE WIND by Kristina O'Donnelly.
