I've been bad about my blogging again.
A few things to note:
1. Harlequin is giving away a bunch of books. If you enjoy romance and you want to try out some new authors or want to pick up a book by a favorite author, you can get 16 for free (from each of their lines) here: http://eharlequin.com/store.html?cid=1317 . Multiple formats and no DRM. This is a brave step by Harlequin--most big publishers would rather die than take a step without DRM.
2. You can also get them from Fictionwise or eReader but formats are limited.
3. In addition to the free Harlequin books, Fictionwise and eReader are having Valentine's day sales. 30% off on all romances and erotica books (for the books by big publishers and DRM, it's a 30% Micropay rebate).
I'm still in rewrite hell--and not making much progress. Partially to make up for it, I've been reading. I finished my suggested edits on our next publication--THE GLOVE OF SHADOWS by Joshua Calkins-Treworgy. I read and enjoyed MISTBORN by Brandon Sanderson--very good. THE PIRATE KING by R. A. Salvatore isn't his best, but it wasn't bad. As for FOUNDATION by Mercedes Lackey--what can I say? I've loved many of Lackey's books, and some of the books in this series have been fantastic. FOUNDATION, unfortunately, didn't live up to its potential. Now I'm reading BLOOD LINES by Mel Odom. So far, it's teriffic.
Karen and I have started our own little critique group--on Tuesdays we go out for coffee and read ten pages of each other's WIP. It motivates me to get stuff done although not enough. Karen is teaching a workshop on becoming an extremely productive writer this month--maybe I should have signed up for it.
Bridge has been up and down--Therese and I hit an all-time low with a 31% game on Friday, then came back with a 61% game on Monday (admittedly the Friday players are better). Unfortunately, Mike, who was directing, couldn't figure out how to do a charity game so we didn't get as many points as we would have. Oh, well.
With the economy in the tank, people are turning to reading. With reading, you can exercise your brain, avoid commercials, and get a huge amount of entertainment per dollar spent. Why not check out www.BooksForABuck.com for some fantastic and super-cheap fiction?
