If you haven't bought it yet, you'll definitely want to check out this combination of high-tech thriller and hard-boiled detective action. Frag Limit, by S. K. O'Toole, tells of a detective whose best friend dies suspiciously--at least it's suspicious when PI Denton Dodge realizes that three other software testers died in exactly the same way--of supposedly natural causes. Dodge's investigations takes him into the world of computer game design--and a top-secret military project. Frag Limit is available in multiple eBook formats for only $3.99--but the $1 introductory pricing lasts until Sunday night. Here's the link: www.booksforabuck.com/mystery/mys_09/frag_limit.html .
I'm getting ready for a busy day tomorrow. There's an all day writers' conference, a black belt test for one of our really excellent students, and the first round of the Grand National Teams (a bridge event). I'm going to try to make all three, doing the conference in the morning, stopping in to cheer for Mr. Foster at noon, then heading off for the two-session bridge event in the early afternoon. Should make for a long day--hope my brain isn't too frazzled.
I'm battling with some sort of computer virus now, which is no fun at all. None of the monitors I've downloaded can detect anything and they assure me I don't have the Konfigurer Worm, but I've got something that keeps me from getting to Microsoft Update and prevents me from updating my virus software. Most annoying and time-consuming. I've got a lot of work to get done and this is making that very difficult. I read BULLETPROOF TEXAS by Kay Thomas (review shortly) and I'm almost done with the charming THE VONDISH AMBASSADOR by Lawrence Watt-Evans. Expect reviews soon.
Author Joshua Calkins-Treworgy noticed I haven't been doing my book of the day lately. That's because I've been falling way short on the blog of the day. I'm going to try to do better. Starting Monday, there'll be a regular blog and the book of the day will be back. Thanks for the reminder, Joshua.
