I stayed up late last night to finish mailing out my royalty statements. Tomorrow, I'll actually send the money. Also tomorrow, I'll finally complete the publication of FIRST CONTACT by Ken Ingle. I've got the eReader version ready and the paperback version proof has been shipped, but I've still got to assemble the HTML, Adobe Acrobat PDF, Microsoft Reader, Sony Reader, Mobipocket and ePub versions. Sort of like my authors and royalties--life was a lot simpler when I only had 4 authors and 3 formats. Also tomorrow, I'll come out with the BFAB monthly newsletter.
Wednesday is the day I direct a game at the Bridge Academy of North Dallas (BAND). We had reservations for 5 tables, but we had a last minute walk-in and then Tom, who normally plays with my regular partner Therese showed up looking for Therese. Therese just started a job--she wasn't there. So, I played with Tom, which was fun. Tom is a good player although he was still feeling a bit groggy from knee surgery. It was probably just as well we didn't have to play on Saturday. Speaking of Saturday, we were the big winners (first out of all one team who showed up), but I learned today that we don't get any points for our huge victory. If any ACBL officials are out there, I think I should get my money back if I don't get to play and I don't get points. We paid for a 2 session event, so it felt like a fair piece of change to me. Tom and I came in second (out of twelve pairs), which wasn't bad. We were about 10 percentage points behind the actual winners, though. Wow.
Wednesday night is fencing, so I went and got beat up by one of our young fencers. It's amazing how humbling a match can be.
I wrote a little on the train and got some reading done in FLIGHT INTO DARKNESS by Sarah Ash. This is a sequel to a fantasy I read what seems like a very long time ago but was really last May-Tracing the Shadow. So far, I'm enjoying it. I've got a stack of reviews to write, so look for a big day tomorrow. Also tomorrow Karen stops by our accountant and picks up our tax forms. I'm hoping for a refund--it would be my first refund in a couple of years, but I sure didn't make much money last year.
I'm going to make HALF A RANCH by Robyn Anders the www.BooksForABuck.com book of the day. Mindy Russell wants to pay for the college education she's so long delayed. Even more, she wants to make sure no gigolo will take advantage of her late aunt's fortune. But when her aunt's will divides the ranch between her and the man she knows to be a gigolo, Mindy finds herself forced to spend time with the too-sexy male. It's only a buck--what a steal. Here's the URL: www.booksforabuck.com/rompages/half_ranch.html. (Available in HTML, Microsoft Reader, Palm Reader/eReader, and Adobe Acrobat formats). Here's the cover (cover design by Jane Graves):
