I thought I'd get these reviews posted a long time ago, but they're up now. Today I posted my reviews of:
1. THE CITY & THE CITY by China Mieville. This was a really creative and wonderful novel. I've enjoyed all of Mieville's books, but until Un Lun Dun, they all had major flaws in addition to their creativity (I've read THE SCAR, PERDIDO STREET STATION and IRON COUNCIL). With CITY, Mieville really puts together a compelling and powerful story that's virtually flawless. Here's my review: www.booksforabuck.com/sfpages/sf_09/city_and_the_city.html.
2. ILLEGAL by Paul Levine. Imagine Chinatown, but set in the 21st Century and it's about immigration rather than water and you'll have a pretty good idea of what Levine put together in ILEGAL. Good stuff. Here's my review: www.booksforabuck.com/mystery/mys_09/illegal.html.
3. MOON'S WEB by C. T. Adams and Cathy Clamp. A werewolf assassin has to discover who's kidnapping pregnant women. A solid advenure with a romancy feel. Here's my review: www.booksforabuck.com/sfpages/sf_09/moons_web.html.
Now I'm reading THE RIGHT MISTAKE by Walter Mosley.
I'm going to make A TEXAS BOUNTY by Cathy Richard Dodson the www.BooksForABuck.com book of the day. When his 'uncle' offers a million dollar reward for return of his missing wallaby, Noah Francis knows it's time to head back to west Texas. He's avoided the area for years because of the girl he left behind--who's now the sheriff. When the two get together, sparks fly. Sexy and fun--only $3.99. Learn more, read the free excerpt or buy the entire eNovel here: http://www.booksforabuck.com/rompages/rom_2007/texas_bounty.html (Available in HTML, Adobe Acrobat PDF, eReader, Mobipocket, and Microsoft Readerformats). Here's the cover (cover design by Jim Dodson):
