I was just a kid when Cassius Clay (later Mohammed Ali) fought Sonny Liston for the first time. I remember, though, the interest in the fight--and in Ali's big mouth. Because Ali became possibly the greatest champion in the history of boxing, I'd never really thought much of how he beat Liston. I've been reading a mystery, THEY FALL HARD, which is based on the Ali/Liston fight (although author Alistair Boyle changes the names just slightly (Sonny Liston becomes Buddy Benson, etc.). I'm not sure what I think about fiction based so completely on actual events. I spent some time on Wikepedia and learned that there are a lot of people who think Liston took a dive in his title fights against Ali. I still think Ali is the greatest. Still, Liston was a hard guy. I'll review this later in the week (along with THE RIGHT MISTAKE). Now I'm reading TO DIE FOR by David Champion.
Karen and I took a walk to the park and saw a nice Eagret. These are beautiful birds. I also got started on the edits for Joshua Calkins-Treworgy's MOTOR CITY SHAMBLER.
