We've had a cool and wet spring (we need the rain). This is Texas, though, which means that summer is always on its way. Today, it hit. HOT, and (less usually for TX) muggy. I pretty much forced Karen to go for a walk to the post office to mail off some tax information, then to the library. Afterwards, I was ready to undo all of that good work by going out to the local pub for a burger and beer.
I finished going through the semi-final version of Mike Paulson's DEADLY STING and Karen spent some time working on the cover. With luck, I'll be able to publish on Sunday, before I head off for a bridge tournament. I also got a contract from Joshua Calkins-Treworgy for Motor City Shambler (thanks, Joshua) and what I truly hope will be the last tweeks from Kenneth Ingle for the paperback version of FIRST CONTACT. Oh, and I didn't finish the bunny book. I'm painfully close. I need something clever to sort of pull things together and I've got to resolve the question of what happened to the extra people in Matt's head. Should be fun.
I made some progress on VANISHED by Joseph Finder and my computer seems to be talking to me. Weird.
I'm going to make A CRY AT MIDNIGHT by Victoria Chancellor the www.BooksForABuck.com book of the day. It's a baby's cry, but it appears to be coming from an old doll-house. Until a museum worker follows up--and is thrown into the ante-bellum past where a baby--and a sexy dad--await. Emotional and intriguing--only $3.99. (Available in HTML, Adobe Acrobat PDF, eReader and Microsoft Reader formats). Here's the link for more info or to buy: http://www.booksforabuck.com/rompages/rom_2004/cry_midnight.html. Here's the cover (cover design by Jane Graves):
