rob: Good point, Amelia. The hours people spend reading are the greatest cost involved. Given that we sometimes get fooled and buy books we don't enjoy, it's nice to have a low cover price, too--if not for the successes, at least for the rejects.Rob

Close to publication

Our next book, Carpatian Shadows, is nearing publication. I'm hoping to finish the electronic publication process on Saturday. I've gotten my first cut of the cover, from Karen, and it looks beautiful. There's just one small issue in the editing--about the dates--and I threatened that I'd flip a coin if I didn't get a decision from them. That should do it. I also spent some time working in edits for When it's Time to Call it a Day by Anthony Perham. I only have another hundred pages to go, so I'm hoping to finish tomorrow.

What about my own writing. Well, I got ten pages written and advanced both the romance and suspense plots so you can't beat that. Karen finished her pages before me today. Not sure what that means--it's certainly not a race--but I've been finishing ahead of her most days. Perhaps she's finally on a roll with this story. I hope so, I know she's been struggling a bit.

It's not exactly fall, but it isn't as hot as it has been so Karen and I actually went for a walk today. We walked down to the Texas Theater (which is where Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested). They've got a pretty new sign out front and a little flyer up that says the theater is available for rent. Karen wants to rent it. I'd want something to do in it before I spent my money. Maybe when we celebrate our millionth book sold.

Our local recreation center re-opened this week after a long period of reconstruction. So I went and fenced. I was the only student there, so it worked out to be a private lesson. Pretty good deal.
