Obviously it's rough to make a living giving books away for free. For one thing, free doesn't leave a lot of room to cover costs, let alone to make a big profit. And making it up in volume isn't really a great answer, either. Still, for promotional purposes, occasionally I take a break from logic (sadly much of marketing sees to mean taking a break from logic) and offer a free eBook. I'm now doing this on www.allromanceebooks.com, one of the distributors I use for the romance books we publish on BooksForABuck.com. For the next little while, I'm giving away free copies of one of my best-selling novels, In The Werewolf's Den. If you go there, search for In the Werewolf's Den, and enter the special code, AreFree002, you should be able to download a copy for free. Let me know if it doesn't work.
I'm still on my consulting job on the big island of Hawaii. Karen had a great time swimming with the dolphins yesterday. Today she's horseback riding. I'm still in a hotel basement. They fixed the air conditioning so I'm freezing. At least I learned my lesson yesterday and snuck out early from a meeting in time to grab cookies. I hate missing the afternoon sugar fix. Yesterday, perhaps because I'd missed my sugar fix, I poured water on my new laptop. Not brilliant although somehow it seems to have survived the experience.
I'm plugging away on submissions during breaks and in the mornings before meetings. When I'm not doing that, I'm working on the final read-through on NanoCorporate. Only 100 pages to go.
I got bad news from Anthony Perham. It looks like When It's Time To Call it a Day isn't going to make the publication list for this month after all. I'll give you an update on the latest in the Malcolm and Sean saga when I know more.
If you love great books and you're willing to try electronic reading, check out www.BooksForABuck.com. We've got great prices and our authors really appreciate your support.
