After a week in 'paradise' I'm back home in Texas where it's hot. It was hot in Hawaii, so it's not really that big a switch, except it's really quite hot here. After about 12 hours flying in freezing cold airplanes, the heat felt great--for about half an hour. After that, it just felt brutal. So, welcome home to Texas, Rob. I'm not sure I'm going to spend the rest of my life in Texas. The large number of aggressively conservative (as in, if you don't agree with them, you're a traitor) turn me off and the heat gets to me, too. On the other hand, BooksForABuck.com is really going to have to crank up sales if I'm going to buy a house somewhere else.
I posted most of my reviews today once we got home. I've got reviews of THE COWBOY'S CHRISTMAS PROPOSAL by Judy Christenberry (www.booksforabuck.com/rompages/rom_2007/cowboy_christmas_proposal.html ), BECAUSE OF A BOY by Anna DeStefano (www.booksforabuck.com/rompages/rom_2007/because_of_a_boy.html), A HIGHLANDER FOR CHRISTMAS by Sandy Blair (www.booksforabuck.com/rompages/rom_2007/highlander_christmas.html ) and THE ELVES OF CINTRA by Terry Brooks (www.booksforabuck.com/sfpages/sf_07/elves_cintra.html). I'm happy to recommend any of these. Tomorrow I'll post a review of the excellent HAUNTING MELODY by Flo Fitzpatrick. Now I'm reading AGNES AND THE HITMAN by Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer. Because we caught the red-eye back, I didn't get much reading done on the plane--finished the DeStefano book and did some more work on submissions.
I got the new proof copy for FINDING FUNBOY by Matt Golec and it looks great so I gave it the go-ahead. It should show up on Amazon soon. The good news is, we'll actually make a few pennies on Amazon vs. the old approach where I actually lost money every time someone bought one of our paperback books (even before paying royalties). Clearly that's no way to run a business.
Karen and I are doing our best to stay up to a reasonable hour so we can go to bed and get re-adjusted to Texas time. We never adjusted to Hawaii time but it would be unfortunate to be stuck in the middle now that we're back.
I'm going to make THE DEVIL AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA by Karen Leabo the www.BooksForABuck.com book of the day. An FBI agent goes way over the line when he thinks a Mafia leader will get away with murder. Still, kidnapping the leader's sister is bound to cause trouble--and when he starts feeling the attraction, he knows trouble is the understatement of the year. Only $1 for this complete eNovel. Learn more, read the excerpt, or buy the eNovel here: www.booksforabuck.com/rompages/devilsea.html. (HTML, Adobe PDF, Palm DOC, and zipped Microsoft Reader formats).
