After a week in Hawaii, I'm having a bit of trouble adjusting to the real world. This morning, Karen and I walked out to our neighborhood cafe, Norma's, for breakfast. While Karen went to pick up the pets (they stayed with Karen's sister while we were gone), I wrote my review of Flo Fitzpatrick's HAUNTING MELODY, which I really enjoyed (review is at www.booksforabuck.com/rompages/rom_2007/haunting_melody.html) and then read and reviewed the newest from Jenny Cruise and Bob Mayer, AGNES AND THE HITMAN. Review here: www.booksforabuck.com/rompages/rom_2007/agnes_and_the_hitman.html .
Next up, PHOENIX UNRISEN by Kathleen Nance.
I got a nice note back from Flo Fitzpatrick. Remember, if you read something you like, go ahead and drop the author a note--it makes them happy and they'll often respond. Make it personal, though, and don't tell them they're your favorite author and beg for free books. Authors are probably as poor as you are and they can't eat books they give away.
I am looking forward to getting back to my writing. I was glad I finally got NanoCorporate finished and sent off to agent Caren Johnson, but I felt strange getting no actual new pages written last week. If I'm going to enter my new book in the Golden Heart (Romance Writers of America annual contest), I've got to get the pages written.
I'm going to make THE BRIDE'S FATHER by Amy Eastlake the www.BooksForABucck.com book of the day. Brad Mittermann is determined to protect his teenage daughter--even if she doesn't want the protection. But when he tries to protect his daughter from her own boyfriend, he runs straight into Mitzi Jordan, the boy's mother. And Mitzi has her own opinions about overbearing and over-controlling people. Sparks fly. An emotional romance--and it's only $1. Available in HTML, Adobe PDF, Palm Reader, and Microsoft Reader formats. Learn more, read the excerpt, or buy the complete eBook here: www.booksforabuck.com/rompages/bride_father.html. Here's the cover (cover design by Jane Graves):
