After a nice breakfast at Norma's, our neighborhood cafe, Karen and I came home--her to paint and me to edit. In my mailbox, I got a nice surprise--in addition to selling eBooks directly through www.BooksForABuck.com, I also sell them through several distributors. One of these, www.allromanceebooks.com is planning a major promotion and wanted to offer some free books for it. Naturally I prefer making money to free. Still, I thought some promotion would be a good thing, so I offered my (wonderful) book, IN THE WEREWOLF'S DEN. All Romance loved the book but hated the cover. So, they made a new one. Here it is--let me know what you think.
It's got a nice urban fantasy feel, I think, and my name is real big. If you're going to give away books for free, you'd better make your name big. I may use thier cover in my next re-do of this book (unfortunately I just released it in paperback with the old cover).
I got 100 pages of editing done (in WHEN IT'S TIME TO CALL IT A DAY by Anthony Perham). Back to work on it tomorrow and see how far I can get. I also have all of the author feedback for CARPATIAN SHADOWS, so I'll see if I can get Karen to get arty and make a cover for me tomorrow (I have to say really good things about the painting she's done).
I posted a couple of reviews: FORTUNE'S FOOL by Mercedes Lackey is a cute fairy tale/fantasy. Not a lot there but enjoyable. Here's my review: www.booksforabuck.com/sfpages/sf_07/fortunes_fool.html. ONE STUBBORN TEXAN by Kara Lennox is a wonderful romance about an heir finder and an heir who doesn't want to be found. Here's my review: www.booksforabuck.com/rompages/rom_2007/one_stuborn_texan.html. Now I'm reading THE YIDDISH POLICEMEN'S UNION by Michael Chabon.
I'm going to make IN THE WEREWOLF'S DEN by Rob Preece the www.BooksForABuck.com book of the day. It's only $3.99 and it's a great book--when the retrovirus re-engages junk DNA, some humans become 'magical.' Learn more, read the excerpt, or buy it here: www.booksforabuck.com/rompages/rom_2005/werewolf_den.html. Here's the (current) cover (cover design by Karen Leabo):
