I have about two and a half hours between my afternoon and evening bridge classes, which is a nice amount of writing time. But because I've fallen so far behind on my submissions, I decided I'd spend it reading submissions (and finishing Touch of Texas for review--review should be posted tomorrow). I felt guilty about not writing, but even more guilty about how far behind I am on submissions. People who submit deserve to have their work judged in a timely manner. All I can say is, for the first time I actually understand how easy it is for the NY editors to get behind. I get many fewer submissions than they do, but I'm still behind.
It looks like my Tuesday morning class won't make for the next session (starting next Tuesday), so I'll have the morning to write. I have mixed feelings, of course. On the one hand, I'll miss the bridge teaching (and the little bit of money I earn teaching). On the other, I need to be writing, and I've got a huge amount to get done before submitting to the Golden Heart contest.
Fall has hit Dallas with a vengence. I actually ran my car heater this morning. Over the weekend, it was still tropical. I suspect we'll get a return of summer before long, but this is a nice break, and a break in our air conditioning bill.
