I decided to do paper books because my authors like them. Heck, when it comes to giving presents, doing book signings, or impressing strangers, paper books work a lot better than eBooks. For some reason, strangers think it's harder to come out with a paperback than an eBook. Which isn't really true. Or rather, it is harder because Word sometimes has a nasty tendency to jerk with my projects, and because doing the cover design can be a pain in the rear (trying to get that spine exactly lined up is harder than it looks). But it really isn't hard to come out with a paperback. The other day, my mother wanted to read one of my unpublished books and I put together a special one-of book on LuLu for her--probably every bit as cheap as printing it out with the HP Laserjet. I spent a couple of hours this afternoon adjusting the cover to the paperback version of Carpathian Shadows because I'd corrected the font size (thanks Microsoft Word), and needed a slightly larger spine. I also got a bit more editing done in Anthony Perham's A Full English Problem. My partner cancelled our Friday bridge game, so I'll try to finish my edits of this book on Friday and bribe Karen to work on the cover over the weekend.
I managed eleven pages today--I'm up to page 349. Tomorrow Karen and I are taking my mother to the airport. I'm planning on taking the train back home (I've never done this before but there is supposed to be a shuttle from the airport to remote parking and another shuttle from remote parking to the Trinity Rail Express, which connects with light rail to get me home. I'm planning on taking my HP Jornada and getting writing done.
I'm reading TERRITORY by Emma Bull. (Also SNOWBOUND WITH MR. RIGHT by Judy Christenberry).
I'm going to make SISTER GYPSY MOON by Karen Leabo the www.BooksForABuck.com book of the day. When she's mistaken for a psychic, Gypsy Moon writes it up to coincidence. But she starts getting feelings that something is wrong--and then things start to happen. Underneath it all, there's something mysterious going on. Sassy and fun mystery--and it's only $3.99. Learn more, read the excerpt, or buy the entire eNovel here: www.booksforabuck.com/mystery/mys_03/sister_gypsy.html.
