I'm getting so close to the end of Remove from Circulation I can smell it. I hit page 390 today--with a target of 400. I think I'm going over. I really hope to finish this week. If I don't, I'm going to work on it over the weekend. Sophia and Ryan are on their way up the stairs of the building where Watson and his depleted uranium bomb are at the top. Of course if you're going to spend ten pages on the stairs, you'd better have something going on--like an unexpected reversal. I told Karen I spent ten pages climbing stairs and she told me that she has a writer friend who does that--with beautiful description, lots of introspection etc. Well, I like to think my description is beautiful but it is also sparce. It's mostly action.
After lunch, Karen and I walked to the post office where I mailed off the second proof copy of Carpathian Shadows (paperback) to editor Lea Schizas. Unfortunately I already know I'll have to make a couple more changes--some margins got screwed up. Tomorow I'll scroll through and check for margins all the way through. I hate buying proof copies that are no good.
Karen is putting the finishing touches on the cover for A FULL ENGLISH PROBLEM by Anthony Perham. I sent the draft to Anthony and he seems happy with it (I really don't like it when I make Karen really polish up all the details and then they don't like it so I've been sending drafts to authors earlier--she told me I had to do that or not let them have any input at all.) Did you know that I didn't even bother with covers for the first couple of years I was in business? I figured, if people are reading electronically, there's nothing to cover. Of course, I was wrong. Artwork is one of the things that makes people look.
Speaking of great artwork, I'm going to make DEADLY AGE by Michael Paulson the www.BooksForABuck.com book of the day.
