I kicked off edits on the next BooksForABuck.com book--Redoubt of Ghosts by J. E. Bruce, another new author for BooksForABuck.com. I'm really excited about this.
Karen went off to bird watch and I went for a little bike ride by myself. I go a lot faster than Karen so I was exhausted after maybe eight miles. Not very long but still fun. When she got back from the bird-watching we also went for a long walk and saw some interesting (and at least one new) birds. Then I made progress on submissions. What we didn't do (again) was gamble. This time it was because Karen had an on-line chat with www.eharlequin.com. A lot of authors do on-line chats (including me). I wonder, though, whether there's really a point. It seems like, so often it's a combination of authors talking to each other, and a few visitors wanting to win free books. I don't think anyone would be surprised to learn that it's tough to make a living giving away free books.
Speaking of making a living, what do you think about Amazon's pricing for the Kindle. Over at www.teleread.org/blog, head bloggist David Rothman posted one of my comments as a blog entry. I try to figure out what it'll take to justify the $400 price of a Kindle. I think, if you're the kind of person who reads a lot of best-sellers in hardback, you can really prove it in quickly. If you only buy cheap paperbacks, it's a lot harder--on pure cost-savings. I'm sticking with my eBookWise for now (only $120 at www.ebookwise.com) but I'm watching for sales on both the Kindle and the Sony.
I'm going to make IN THE WEREWOLF'S DEN by Rob Preece the www.BooksForABuck.com book of the day. The return of magic plague hit ten years previously but a late emergent werewolf has upset the calculations and the warders have sent Danielle Goodman to keep herd over the sexy werewolf. Exciting paranormal thriller with a strong romantic component. Only $3.99. Learn more, read the free excerpt, or buy the entire eNovel here: www.booksforabuck.com/rompages/rom_2005/werewolf_den.html . (Available in HTML, Adobe Acrobat PDF, Palm Reader/eReader and Microsoft Reader formats.). Here's the (original) cover
cover design by Karen Leabo) (the new cover is over at www.allromanceebooks.com . I'm going to update someday).
