Because I'm over 50 (and maybe because my father died of stomach cancer), my doctor recommended I have something called a colonesemy (or something like that). Anyway, I spent yesterday drinking horrible salt stuff and then this morning before I really wanted to be out of bed, I went to the hospital where I got to sit and wait in air conditioned chill. I don't remember anything about the procedure itself--they drugged me up--but it only took a few minutes and I'm happy to say, my colon is fine. (weirdly, they gave me pictures--eeew). The rest of the day was pretty much shot, though. My brain wasn't quite in gear although it was spinning away.
I posted a couple of reviews yesterday. For DRAGONBORN by Jade Lee which is sexy and exciting but had some logic problems, I thought. Here's my review: www.booksforabuck.com/rompages/rom_2009/dragonborn.html. Also, THE STEEL REMAINS by Richard K. Morgan which I enjoyed although it left a lot of questions (can anyone say sequel). Here's my review: http://www.booksforabuck.com/sfpages/sf_09/steel_remains.html.
Speaking of sequels, it seems like every fantasy or SF book these days gets a sequel. Readers get invested in characters and events and want more. When I wrote MERCHANT PRINCE OF ARCADIA I ws definitely thinking sequel although I haven't gotten around to it yet. I got a note from Ken Ingle saying he's started plotting out a sequel to FIRST CONTACT (www.booksforabuck.com/sfpages/sf_09/first_contact.html). Cool. Also, my last blog entry has a comment from Paul Nelson saying he's working on another legal thriller...even more cool. I guess I like sequels, too.
Tomorrow I get back to my regular routine--writing, editing, and Tai Chi.
I'm going to make A TEXAS BOUNTY by Cathy Richard Dodson the www.BooksForABuck.com book of the day. When his 'uncle' offers a million dollar reward for the return of a lost wallaby, Noah realizes he's got to go back to the home he left after high school. He has no idea, though, that the girl he left behind is now all grown up. Lou Ann isn't about to let herself get hurt again...and she definitely doesn't want Noah to learn her secret. Still, she can't seem to keep herself away. Sexy and fun. Only $3.99. (available in HTML, Adobe PDF, eReader, Mobipocket and Microsoft Reader formats (ask me if you need Sony or ePub)).
